When you wake up every morning after sleeping for eight or nine hours you have actually been fasting. Because of this it is always a good idea to have the first meal of your day with the first 60 to 90 minutes of waking up. The reason for this is purely chemical. More often than not if you do not eat within the first 60 to 90 minutes of waking up your body will think that you were starving and as such it will go into starvation mode. When your body is in starvation mode most of the food that you eat during that time usually be stored as fat. So even if you are not really a breakfast person it is in your best interest to eat something healthy. You should eat a source of protein and a healthy sugar / carbohydrate. An example of this would be a cup of sugar free yogurt at a cup of fruit like blueberries or strawberries were even eating half of a grape-fruit.
